Let's Unblur the Lines between Evidence and Anecdotes

We are currently looking for people who can participate and help us unlock discoveries. The research is open to those who are/have:

  • 18 years old or above
  • Diagnosed with chronic headache (15 headache days per month or more)
  • used Psychedelics with the intent to treat their headaches within the last 6 months

Chronic headaches, which includes migraines, tension and cluster headaches, is a debilitating condition that affects a significant portion of the global population. Available treatment options do not always provide complete relief and maybe associated with side effects. There is growing interest in exploring alternative therapeutic approaches, such as the use of psychedelics, to alleviate the burden of chronic headaches

Psychedelics are demonstrating promising clinical trial results in mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Anecdotal and early observational data in treating chronic headache with some psychedelics is signaling potential effectiveness and more research is needed.

This study aims to understand how people are using psychedelics to treat chronic headaches. By investigating real world use of psychedelics in this context and their effects on headache frequency, severity, and associated symptoms, we seek to contribute to the existing body of knowledge.

Key points about Headaches

  • Headache disorders are among the most common disorders of the nervoussystem
  • Causes for headaches can be separated into primary and secondary headaches
  • Primary headaches consists of conditions where the headache represents the primary problem and there is no underlying cause (e.g. brain tumor)
Examples include: Migraine, tension-type and cluster to name a few
  • Chronic headache is defined as 15 or more headache days per month
Headaches typically vary in intensity and duration
Headache can also have mixed features across different types of headaches (e.g. migraine & tension-type)

Our Research Survey
